4. Write a short essay on any one of the following topics :
(a) The Present System of Examination.
- The present system of examination is mainly based on writing and memorization. It tests a student’s ability to recall facts rather than understand concepts. Most exams are conducted in written form within a fixed time limit, which creates stress and pressure among students. It encourages rote learning instead of creativity and practical knowledge. Often, even intelligent students score less because they are not good at writing under pressure. There is a need to reform the current examination system to make it more skill-based, concept-oriented, and stress-free. Practical knowledge, participation, communication, and creativity should also be evaluated. A fair and modern exam system will help bring out the true abilities of students.
(b) Use and Abuse of Social Media.
- Social media is a powerful tool of communication in today’s world. Platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter help people stay connected, share ideas, promote businesses, and stay informed. It has made the world smaller and faster. However, the abuse of social media has become a serious concern. Fake news, cyberbullying, addiction, privacy loss, and spreading hatred are some of its dangers. Many students waste valuable time on these platforms. Therefore, social media should be used wisely and for constructive purposes only. Its misuse can affect mental health, studies, and relationships. It is up to the users to decide whether it becomes a blessing or a curse.
(c) Women Empowerment.
- Women empowerment means giving women the right to make decisions, get equal education, and participate in all fields of life. Empowering women is important for the progress of any society. In the past, women were restricted to homes, but today they are becoming doctors, teachers, engineers, and leaders. Education and awareness have played a major role in empowering women. Still, many women in rural areas face discrimination and injustice. It is the duty of society and the government to provide them with equal rights, safety, and opportunities. A nation can develop fully only when both men and women are empowered equally.
(d) Water Crisis in India.
- India is facing a serious water crisis. Rivers are drying, groundwater levels are falling, and rainfall is becoming irregular. Many villages and even cities suffer from water shortages, especially in summer. Reasons include overuse of water, deforestation, pollution, and poor water management. People waste water in homes, industries, and agriculture. If this continues, there will be no water left for future generations. We must take urgent steps like rainwater harvesting, reusing water, planting trees, and spreading awareness. Every citizen should save water and use it wisely. Water is life, and saving it is our shared responsibility.
